Dr. Raquel Vallines Mira, UTSA Department of Mathematics
In this talk, I will present the work of a group of mathematics education researchers at UTSA engaged in improving the preparation of preservice teacher by using an iterative process that involves 1) developing a hypothetical learning trajectory, 2) creating targeted lessons, 3) pre- and post-assessing student knowledge, and 4) revising lessons accordingly. I will discuss in-depth the development, products, and student learning outcomes from one lesson about algebraic patterns.
This work can provide a road map for other instructional improvement projects.
